Tears, Trials, and Travels
My husband went to be with Jesus in May 2016. Yes, I'm still grieving. I homeschool my kids. If you were in my position, wouldn't you travel around the country for a year?

Making our way to Thanksgiving

Did we make it to San Jose??? You’ll have to keep reading to find out.  There were some goods and bads with this trip, but about 70% which, as I’ve said before, you can’t get better than!

We left Seattle and drove to the coast to see a family friend I hadn’t seen since I was a kid.  It was great.  She talked about her beach combing hobby and we learned some history! It was still cold and wet, we went to the beach (just to say we did it) and we fixed (well our family friends) fixed another thing wrong with the RV! (Exhaust pipe)

We were going to go to Portland next, but we didn’t actually have a real reason to go.  I mean Portland is great, but nothing specific, so we didn’t go. Instead we drove down the coast. We spent time camping on the coast, going to the Tillamook Cheese factory, exploring, went to Thor’s Well (totally awesome) and actually doing school.

We also kept going to the Redwoods and spent time there which was a delight! We hiked in the pouring rain and also went to the “Trees of Mystery” which were really weird Redwoods and a gondola ride (like a ski lift) and our dog was allowed to go.

We visited a friend in Sacramento and made it to San Jose for Thanksgiving!

Blessings: We really kept our pace a lot, almost too much, but we were able to enjoy ourselves, do school, and explore a little. Plus all the cool stuff we did was a blessing.

Not such blessings: I figured out my tow light plug was never fixed (it was originally replaced upside down and apparently when the guy at the RV shop fixed it all he did was change my homemade plug to plug in upside down so if I ever need a new one, I’m out of luck)

Also on our way to Sacramento, the highway we were supposed to take wouldn’t allow for something our size (haven’t found a good gps alternative for our RV so everything is geared for small vehicles) so we had to turn around, drive an extra hour, and end up on a mountain road with lots more twists and turns than I wanted.  Oh yeah and it took so long I had to drive after the sun went down.

And there are about 3 other really inconvenient but manageable problems with the rv that I should fix if possible.

Harmonie’s Corner

Tillamook:

We went to Tillamook Cheese Factory and looked around we all got ice cream. It was delicious. Wish I could go there again (mostly for the ice cream but yeah.)

Sacramento:

Then we went to Sacramento to see a friend of my mom’s and went to a Pizza and Pasta place. I got alfredo it was really delicious.

Redwoods:

We went to the “Trees Of Mystery” and went on the gondola ride with bear bear he was really scared. It was actually quite funny. We also did a very long hike and it hurt. Bear Bear got two treats he was very excited.

Others:

We went to Thors well it was like a giant hole where the water goes down then charges up over and over again.

I like the Thor’s hole that was great. Good job going to the beach. Anytime you are near a beach, go to the beach. It is just a thing.

looks to me like the south western part of the this area is much sunnier than visiting Seattle. Glad you had fun down there.
